A family of young adventurers and thrill seekers recently worked with Build Your Own Pool to aid them in building and executing a swimming oasis. To start with, a natural rock waterfall consisting of large, crane set, surface select boulders hang over a large grotto cave set back against the side of the pool. The grotto, large enough for four to hide out in the water and escape the summer sun, is made of the same material. Each stone was specifically sought out for this project by a rock waterfall subcontractor, allowing the family to get exactly what they wanted at a price point significantly less than other retail quotes. This entire feature is also designed to be a leaping rock for the more adventurous young members of the family to climb and jump off into the pool from.
If the leaping rock is occupied with jumpers, just move over to the water slide that curves around the back of the water all, dropping any thrill seeker into the deep end of the pool. Water slides can then swim over to the shallow end and get out of the pool on steps made of the same rock placed by the waterfall – all meant to blend the natural aesthetic of the design into the entire poolscape.
For the adults and those more into sun worship, a raised deck provides a great place for working on that summer tan. Three well scuppers provide a water feature that gives the appearance of water coming out from below the raised deck.Across from the deck is a large, extended top step that will accommodate two large chaise chairs with umbrellas for when that sun becomes too hot.
Moving around the pool, a sunken fire pit area utilizes the pool beam as the seating for those lounging with their feet in the water. Rattan chairs with over-stuffed pillows fit perfectly into the space and quickly fill up during evening gatherings around the warm glow of this unique fire feature. The night effects of the fire pit are matched only by the LED pool lighting that rotates in color throughout the pool and inside the grotto itself. A floating rock and two bubbler fountain jets finish the effect. If the temperatures start to dip, a heat pump fires up to warm the pool and all those daring enough to take on more backyard fun.
